En route to Deneva once more

Posted on Wed Mar 2nd, 2016 @ 2:42pm by Captain Christina Curtis & Commander Leo Carpegiani PhD & 1st Lieutenant Dalton Wakefield & Ensign Chloe Bishop & Doctor Maya & Lieutenant Tal Sek 'Thaan

Mission: Begin with a Bang
Location: Bridge, A-Deck, Discovery NX-04, Deep Space
Timeline: May 15th, 2155 - 1530 hours

Christina led the group back onto the bridge, their crisis-within-a-crisis finally averted. After Chloe and Leo had figured out how to use the frequency Tal Sek had discovered to track down the location of another detonation device, they had not only been able to disarm it, but obtain enough DNA to confirm who the ship's conspirator was.

"Are we certain that there aren't any more explosives onboard?" Curtis asked as she dropped herself into her chair, mentally exhausted but also exhilarated at the same time.

"Absolutely!" Carpegiani declared confidently as he logged into his station. Then he became a little more circumspect, "Unless, we have missed something." Before he added with a smile, "Which we almost certainly have not!"

Bishop's eyes grew wide. "I certainly hope we didn't miss any. Nothing else has come up on our scans, at least."

"Good. We'll keep Crewman Burke in the brig until we've dealt with Mosstaff." Curtis could hardly bare to think of the fact that one of her own crew had sided with that filthy organisation, and on top of that had not only harmed but killed their own crewmate. "Dalton; I want you to keep him under guard until I say otherwise. I don't want anybody going to see him without my say-so."

"Yes ma'am," Dalton said, taking a step back and opening up a comm channel to his people.

"OK, now we've wasted far too much time sitting here dealing with this. Helm, get us to Deneva, best possible speed."

"I'm on it, Captain," Allison replied from the helm, pleased to finally be able to do something other than either sit in her quarters or keeping the thrusters at station-keeping. "Going to warp." Her hands moved deftly over the controls to re-engage them to their previous course, and then accelerate them through impulse speeds and past the warp barrier. She slowly worked the still-new engines up as high as she dared; eventually settling at warp 4.7 - just enough that the vibration of the engine was closer to a shake through the deck plates, but not quite as high as the engines theoretical maximum - so far only reached by Enterprise and Columbia last year when they were both forced to hit warp 5.2.

Tak took his station at the Armory, the panel still hadn't been set as he liked it but it made sense. The repairs to the F Deck were underway still, they were down Ventral forward launchers, same story with phase canons. Fortunately this let Tal reroute additional power to the Dorsal and Aft systems, raising their punch. It would help, but make maneuvering for firing position problematic.

He caught a reflection in the chrome, the Rank badge at his collar adorning the simple Tactical outfit. It seemed... out of place.

It made no sense to wear a rank on your collar, it only made targeting officers easier. If you weren't known by name you were a low crewman indeed. Recognition was earned but this felt... flashy. It was one of many differences to Terrans, and the stark bigotry of the two Starfleet officers they had captured... He had much more to consider from the pink-skins then they seemed at first.

He only said out loud however, " Armory reporting, repairs underway to F-deck. Estimated at 14 hours."

"Let's hope we don't need the weapons before then," Christina said, as she settled back into her chair. It felt good to be on the move again. It shouldn't be too long before they reached Deneva now. Then they just had to find Mosstaff and stop whatever he was planning to do at the Tellarite compound.
