Begin with a Bang

Post Count: 82

Even months after the scars of Terra Prime were inflicted upon Earth's reputation, Starfleet is still pushing forward in an attempt to show to their new allies that they were a small minority of the population, and that Earth is still dedicated to peaceful exploration and greater interaction with alien cultures. Unfortunately there are various secrets which could jeopardise that image.

As Starfleet Intelligence learns the location of one of Terra Prime's former members, they become increasingly concerned about his actions, with indications showing that he has ambitions of ascending to Paxman's throne and leading Terra Prime in various violent actions, the first of which they have reason to believe to be the bombing of a Tellarite trading compound on Earth's colony of Deneva. With construction on Discovery almost complete, Captain Curtis is ordered to launch ahead of schedule in order to intercept the rogue terrorist before he can detonate his explosive.

Damage

Post Count: 0

The emergency situation which prompted Discovery's early release from drydock now successfully resolved, Admiral Gardner informs Captain Curtis that he sees no reason to call the ship back, and grants her permission to officially begin the Discovery's mission of exploration. Setting a course along a route for which they hold no Vulcan star charts for, the crew discover an M class planet so beautiful it must have come from one of the new movies chronicling the Enterprise's missions - with far more glamour and flair than the reality of them.

Strangely, the planet is littered with hulks of crashed starships - some centuries old - with no apparent cause for their crash landing. As teams spread out across the planet in order to study both it and its mysterious starship graveyard, tensions seem to start to get unusually high not just with the ground teams, but with the crew aboard Discovery as well. Could there be some sort of effect in the region of the planet which causes the crew to lose their minds? Could Discovery suffer the same fate as the hulks of starships past? The crew must fight through their heightened emotions in order to get to the bottom of things, and save their new home from an early end.

Pride

Post Count: 0

While testing a few of the systems that Discovery's on-board engineering teams have had to finish or install on-the-job and away from drydock, the ship receives what appears to be a distress call in a language not on any Starfleet or Vulcan databanks, and the captain sets a course to investigate. Coming upon a vessel crewed by beings who appear to have a reptilian ancestry and call themselves 'Cardassians', the crew learn that the distress call, although genuine, was not sent under the orders of the captain of the vessel, but rather by one of his engineers.

Eager to try and make friends wherever possible, the crew must try to persuade these staunchly proud and stubborn people to accept their help, and try to open dialogue between the two races.
