| Description | A Deck is the upper-most deck aboard an NX-class starship. Situated in the module-like structure atop the saucer section of the ship's hull, A deck is critical in that it contains the ship's bridge - the primary command-and-control centre on the vessel. The module was designed in such a way that it would allow easy replacement of the entire bridge systems at a future point in time if such a design change became necessary enough to force a refit on starships constructed before the new designs. Aside from the main bridge, A Desk contains the situation room, immediately aft of the bridge. Composed of several monitors and a large monitor-equipped table, it is design to allow easy mission briefings and analysis of available data before embarking upon the mission. To the starboard of the module is the captain's ready room, where he or she may work in a private environment but remain close to the bridge for emergencies. Surrounding the main bridge are various other systems and components, mostly serving the purpose of accessing control circuits. ADeck also contains the hull polarisation generator, docking umbilical connections, atmospheric monitoring station and an EPS power regulator bay. A Deck has one lift shaft. |
