Pre-Starfleet		John Kelley was born at the Lunar One Colony and raised by his parents. His father is a pilot for a trade organization that ferries supplies and people between the colonies within the Sol System, his mother is a doctor at the Lunar One Medical Center. Throughout his schooling, John was an above average student. During his vacation breaks, his father would take him on his trade runs and allow him to pilot the ship and get some hands-on training. When he graduated high school, John applied and was accepted to the Earth Space Academy. His training focused primarily on piloting starships and shuttlepods but he minored in tactical and security courses.
Starfleet Career		Upon completion of his training program, John was assigned to shuttle around diplomatic envoys between the colonies and Starfleet facilities, essentially he was a glorified tour guide. His skills and training allowed him to be on a very short list for the chief helmsman of the newest NX-class ship, the Discovery. He is looking forward to the job and not having to listen to dignitaries comment on the primitive colonies that Earth had started.

Physical Description		Tall and in great shape. He's not a body builder but he could hold his own in a fight or physical challenge. He keeps his hair cut short, not much longer than a military style crew cut. His chiseled jaw is clean shaven and he has no distinguishing marks.
General Personality		He loves to joke around but when it's crunch time he's all business.
Strengths & Weaknesses		Growing up on the Lunar One colony has given him experience with artificial gravity and allowed him to be able to easily adapt to different levels of gravity. Unfortunately, his only space piloting experience comes from the academy and shuttling around dignitaries since his graduation.
Ambitions		His main ambition was to pilot a starship out in space and to get away from being a chauffeur. Beyond that he wants to explore and maybe, if he's lucky enough, command his own ship some day.
Hobbies & Interests		When he's not working on improving his piloting skills through simulated combat or just simple training, he likes to familiarize himself with hand to hand combat techniques from a variety of martial arts. His philosophy is that you can never be too prepared for a situation; it's always good to be able to adapt.
