The Armory was a wreck, the forensic status fields in place to prevent tampering with evidence. One launcher was occluded entirely and would likely need to be cleared for several minutes before being made ready. This was unacceptable, even with an investigation they had to maintain vigilance. The wall comm panel was still active so he pressed the stud to activate the bridge channel.

From her station on the bridge, Chloe Bishop received the call to the bridge. Standard protocol left her in charge of screening messages to the ship's command center. While messages from senior staff members were probably going to be important, there wasn't much in place to keep unnecessary messages interfering with ship operations, other than of course her. Bridge here, Lieutenant. Go ahead.

In a brusque tone, as though speaking to a lesser, "I require workman for the repair efforts. I do not know who I should speak to. Relay this message."

The ensign was a bit taken aback by the tone from the other end of the comm. Perhaps things were done differently in the Imperial Guard, but in Starfleet she wasn't used to simply being demanded to do things. Still, her training in working with extraterrestrials, and her understanding of having a chain of command, helped her make sure she maintained some tact. "I can patch you through to engineering, Lieutenant. Repair work will fall under Lieutenant Anziano. Shall I go ahead and connect you to engineering?"

Tal heard the undercurrent of annoyance from the junior officer, he chose to ignore it given he was the outsider but he spared her no consideration with his reply.
"Anziano is repairing damaged systems, If I had wished for the personal assistance of the Chief Engineer I could have arranged that myself. Yes connect me to the Engineers if that is the most you can offer to assist me."
(Tal: just having fun, characters rubbing the wrong way ya know?)

Chloe's eyebrows raised at Tal's response. She knew that some andorians could be impatient, but she hadn't imagined that she would be getting dressed down by one on her first trip away from Earth. Perhaps it made her more bold than it should have. "Lieutenant, I am a communications and language specialist. I was not aware that that made me your receptionist. But you asked for help. And since I am not an engineer, then yes, the most I can offer is to connect you to engineering."
(Chloe: No problem, though she might develop a little sass of her own. Starfleet's not quite as disciplined as the Imperial Guard.)

Tal was incensed momentarily at the unbridled insubordination, however he remembered that he was on board a Human starship, and clearly there was much learning on intership dynamics. A Tactical Officer should be given a wide berth, certainly not spoken to in this manner.
"A communications specialist will certainly be handy when we have to fire torpedoes from a wrecked armory won't it? I mean no disrespect to your profession but I have more pressing concerns, now connect me to the Engineers. Please."

A communication specialist might help us avoid needing to fire torpedoes, Chloe thought, but she decided it was best to not say it out loud. She could tell the andorian was already upset; there was no reason to make it worse. "Patching you through to engineering now, sir," she replied. She closed the comm on her end and rerouted it to engineering. "Bridge to engineer, Lieutenant Sek is requesting assistance. May I patch him through?"
