To kick if off (and to see if the answer has changed after retooling the character), here's one of the questions that was asked about Anziano in Discovery's previous incarnation that I thought was quite good:
How did Luis's "Poster Boy" status affect his interpersonal relationships with other Fleet Officers/Cadets? With people outside the Starfleet hierarchy (family, civilian friends)?

I suppose it treated him pretty good. He may have gotten a lot of attention in the past and people were very good to him, but he never breathed it in. In fact, he consistently shies away from the spotlight as his commission in Starfleet demonstrates (he hoped to fade into the rank and file of personnel working the final frontier).
Once in a blue moon he'll run into a fan, but takes it with humility and self-depreciating humor. Occasionally he is discounted and underestimated, such as when people suggest that he didn't really deserve his success or position, in which case he maintains a diplomatically impassive expression throughout and shrugs it off.
